Vacation Week 2 - Camping

We decided to try our hand at camping this summer, so we borrowed the pop-up and set up camp at Mitchell State Park.  Mom and Dad VanSlooten came down for an afternoon of fishing.  We went mini-golfing and each lost 2lbs.  We did a ton of biking, got ice cream, spent hours fishing, swimming, and unplugging.  It was wonderful.  Below is a sampling of our week.  Enjoy!

CamBam and the Not so Terrible Two's

How do you celebrate a two-year old?  With pizza, Kubb, and Minnie Mouse!  Can you say FUN?  For Campbell's birthday we decided to keep it "simple" and have a DIY pizza bar, play yard games and have cake and ice cream.  The kids had so much fun running around together!

It's so fun to see her personality coming out!  She sure is fiesty, but we saw that from Day 1!  She is sure of what she wants, and she wants to do whatever the big kids are doing!  She is learning new words all the time and so funny to listen to; she loves to sing and dance, and loves to be a mama to her many babies!  What laughter and joy she has brought into our home!

Summer Vacation - Week 1

If you are a follower of our blog, you are probably finding yourself thinking "Seriously, don't you guys do anything besides eat ice cream when you go to Michigan?"  And, yes, we do, but we sure do love us some hand-dipped Michigan made ice cream!
We wanted to run the Zeeland Zoom again this year, Chris "for real" and Garrett and my mom wanted to run with me.  We had a lot of fun.  Chris ran really well!  We may have pushed Garrett a little to hard at the beginning, or the nerves got to him because he ended up puking at about 2.5 miles...He finished the race, and still says he had a good time!

We celebrated Jesse and Gibby's birthday out for lunch in Holland.  I think the waitress was a little nervous to see our six, 6 and under, walk in the door!

We took in a Whitecaps game.  Even Campbell loved it; what's not to love about cotton candy, lemon chills, popcorn and funny mascots?

On Thursday we headed downtown for the Street Performers.  The Juggler, and mime are still hilarious year after year!  The boys could watch them for hours!  Oh, yeah, and we had ice cream :)

We sent the kids home with O & O and went out for drinks at sunset.  The company and the scenery were wonderful!
