Our last week in Michigan was spent with Opa and Oma enjoying beautiful beach days, pirate night, amazing food, lots of cousin time, dates with Oma, sleepovers. We had so much fun as a family and can hardly believe it will be at least a year before we're all back together again. And, by that time there will be a new little cousin. It seems too long, so if we can convince them to come our way sooner we'd be thrilled! It was a perfect week of storing up memories to last us a very long time!

Chris and I were able to take a weekend away and celebrate our 9 years of marriage in Traverse City. We stayed at a little bed and breakfast on a beautiful river. Most of our time was spent out on the peninsulas doing wine tasting, but a few highlights were trying saki (we don't recommend it), being able to talk without interruption, reading in our room with the brook babbling away through the window, seeing the lake over every hill, reconnecting. It's been a great nine years!
We spent our third week in Michigan with Chris' parents doing some really neat things! We visited an elk farm where we could get up close and personal with some huge elk, and some babies. It was amazing! We went tubing, to a children's museum, and went swimming and Chris went salmon fishing on Lake Michigan (yea wild caught fish!). The weather was great all week and we loved being able to be outside (and not be miserable)! Thanks for a fun week, Grandpa and Grandma!

We decided to try our hand at camping this summer, so we borrowed the pop-up and set up camp at Mitchell State Park. Mom and Dad VanSlooten came down for an afternoon of fishing. We went mini-golfing and each lost 2lbs. We did a ton of biking, got ice cream, spent hours fishing, swimming, and unplugging. It was wonderful. Below is a sampling of our week. Enjoy!
